stopping time to document your smallest moments with great heart

Taken by Apia Samoa photographer, Thomas Andrew and dates from 1905.

The young woman on the right is my Great, GREAT Grandmother - Miss Selesa Folau, who was a kindergarten teacher at the German school, in Apia Samoa, in the early 1900’s.

THIS is WHY photography is so powerful and very important to me! It allows us to remember history. To make history. To tell history. Without it, we’ll always be wondering.

I’m Georgina (Gina) Samiula Ofisa-Futialo, a freelance photographer.

I am of Samoan descent, born and raised in The City Of Sails — Auckland New Zealand, now residing in FNQ Townsville Australia.

A little backstory: This all started in 2020, I have always been the person who takes pictures of everything and everyone — noticing the tiniest details on an image and making sure it was perfect. When I got gifted my very first camera, I realised then that photography is my calling. My sense of direction.

  • The Heart of My Story

    My beautiful Grandparents.

The keepers of my family’s stories, the guardians of our traditions, and the mentors who guide us through life’s journey with their invaluable lessons. They remind me to be brave, embrace the journey, appreciate the simple things in life, cultivate strong relationships and that hard work does pay off! Without My Grandparents love, support and prayers — I would not be where I am today.

My Grandparents, my heart and soul xo

  • My Village

Where life begins and love never ends.

They are the ones who support me endlessly, inspire me, encourages me and loves me unconditionally. I’m the eldest of 5 and come from a big family. If I’m not doing a session, I’m here — spending time with my loved ones, probably taking a trip down memory lane that ends with aching cheeks and sore tummies from all the laughter. Family keeps me grounded; they remind me to slow down and live in the moment.

Family is everything - 3 simple words that hold so much weight and meaning.

  • My Safe Haven

    Mr & Mrs Futialo.

My Soulmate — who encourages me to be the best version of myself every day, who understands and connects with me in every way and on every level. My best friend, who brings a sense of peace, calmness, and happiness whenever he is around.

Henri and I got married in Townsville, nothing too big or fancy - just two people in love, becoming one. One of the best days in my life! He reminds me to take each day as it comes, that life is too short, and to go BIG or go home! If I’m not shooting - I’m probably annoying my husband hehe.

You will Forever be My Always xo
